Saturday, 29 January 2011: Can parent involvement really change our schools?

PARENT INVOLVEMENT REALLY PAYS

The benefit of becoming involved in your children's education is the investment which will bring you the greatest returns. All over the world and in all kinds of communities, parent involvement produces:

1. Better academic achievement.
2. More positive attitudes toward school and better behaviour.
3. Better school attendance and increased self-esteem.
4. Lower drop out rates.
5. Increased enrollment in higher education after secondary school.

  1. I am a new teacher and after 4 months in the school I am fully convinced that without sufficient parent involvement, no amount of good teaching will educate these children.
I would love to discuss what we can do about this with other like-minded people.

    Warm wishes
    Geraldine
